My assignment this week was to write a collaborative story with other students in my AVID class. I decided to work with Caroline , Anahi, and Cheyenne . We used the prompt above, taken from this website.
The map was clear: this is where he would find it.He just hadn’t expected the he’d have to get wet. Reluctantly, he swam out to the giant concrete circle. He looked down but couldn’t see the bottom. He signed, took a deep breath, and dove in.
When he dove in he couldn’t see anything. He swam only 20 feet into the well but it seemed like he had swam 5,000 feet. He was not the best swimmer and his lungs were not the best in the world. He could not go much deeper, but he knew he needed to find that treasure .He swam to the top of the well and thought. If he bought or rented a scuba tank he could make it all the way to the bottom and find whatever was at the bottom of the well. He went back to shore and asked people where he could find an inexpensive scuba tank.
He finally found one that sounded like the scuba tanks were good and were not expensive.He went to the shop called Joe’s Scuba Tanks:Rent or Buy for Affordable price. He walked in and the owner of the shop (Joe) seemed very friendly. He didn’t know exactly how much air he would need because he didn’t know how deep the well was so he decided the scuba tank with the most air would be best. Now he had to decide whether he wanted to buy it or rent it. Joe said, “You know if you want you can rent it for today and then see if you would like to buy it.” He thought that was a good idea so that was exactly what he did.
After he bought it he got ready to go back into the well. As he swam through the dark, frightening water, he noticed there were fish in the water. The kind of fish people don’t like, they were flesh eating PIRANHAS! He tried so hard to swim back to the top, but as we said his swimming skills weren’t the best. Luckily he made it to the top of the well. He didn’t want to go back but he needed that treasure. He remembered that he once saw an episode about Piranhas on the Animal Planet. They talked about a product that could temporarily blind Piranha’s eyes and plug their noses. He drove around town searching for a store with this product. At last he found one! He bought three because he still had no idea how deep the well was or how many Piranhas there were.
He tried once more to find the treasure and to his surprise the Piranha spray actually worked.He started to see shining lights. He couldn’t quite make out what the items were but he knew it was the treasure. He got closer and closer until he could reach out and touch the shiny items. Finally he had found what he was looking for all along, he went through so much trouble to get what he wanted. The man never gave up no matter how tough it got.
